El Rey

A surprisingly light red from big and bold varieties. Fresh and plump aromatics of dark fruit and a touch of cedar. The flavors are highly concentrated like the dry farmed fruit from the King Ranch in Cloverdale, CA. The vineyard was planted in the 80's and has always been farmed organic, no spray, no irrigation. Very low yields and very dense fruit comes from this hot and dry mountain top site in the Sonoma Coast.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
King Ranch, now farmed by Wei Zhou. Always dry farmed, no spray, organic very low yields.
Production Notes
Fun fact, some of this was bottled early and kegged early to make a small nouveau release called, "NUVO". You may have tried it in CA.....
Winemaker Notes
With such concentrated fruit I wanted to lighten it up and not get the alcohol levels super high, so I direct pressed the Zinfandel and submerged the whole cluster petit sirah. This makes for a more aromatic and fruit forward experience. The acid levels are dangerously low for a zero-zero wine, but it makes it a very drinkable lighter red.
